Introduction
Viva New Vegas is a modding guide for Fallout: New Vegas that will carefully walk you through how to install all the mods you will need for a perfectly stable, smooth and enjoyable experience.
The guide is highly accessible for everyone, no matter your modding experience. It is still incredibly important that you read all the instructions very carefully, even if you believe you are experienced enough to skip them. There are many small instructions that are vital for your game to function, and could be easily missed if you aren't careful. Although you don't need any modding experience to use this guide, it is expected for you to be relatively experienced with operating a computer in general.

Features
- Stability: The guide includes all the latest and essential stability enhancements.
- Performance: Every tool, setting and mod in the guide has been carefully selected and play-tested to ensure maximum possible performance.
- Customizability: The guide is split into 2 sections; all the mods required for the game to work and perform better are contained in the first section. The mods that can be considered subjective and that alter or add game content are in the VNV Extended section, which is fully modular.
- Better Gameplay: The VNV Extended section includes mods that enhance gameplay while preserving the game's original intent. One notable mod is Lone Star, though it's not recommended for first-time players.
Requirements
- An English-language copy of the Ultimate Edition of the game from either Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store.
- Downloading GOG or the Epic Games Store copies using Heroic Games Launcher is also supported.
- The Polish-Czech-Russian (PCR) version of Fallout: New Vegas - Ultimate Edition is fully supported as long as the game itself is in English.
- The version of Fallout: New Vegas available on the Microsoft Store is not compatible with xNVSE, and thus not supported.
- At least 19 GiB of free drive space, game included (17 GiB if you delete all the downloads).
- Windows® 11 or SteamOS™ 3
Why don't you support my preferred operating system?
To put it simply: It would be too time-consuming. There are a practically infinite number of Linux distros and custom Windows .isos floating around on the internet, and it's impossible to test this installation guide against all of them.
We'd much prefer to focus on improving the guide for the majority of users than to troubleshoot issues for a fraction of a percentage of the potential install base.
- Users of custom Windows .isos: Don't . There is no benefit to any custom Windows installation (even Windows LTSC ).
- Desktop Linux users: There is nothing special about the SteamOS software. If you can install a Linux distro you should be able to follow this guide! You will however, be ineligible for support.
Caveat emptor. You have been warned.
- For Windows users, the newest drivers for your GPU (Nvidia, AMD, Intel or Qualcomm)
- A Nexus Mods account (a Premium subscription will allow uncapped speeds).
Recommended Hardware
As a general rule of thumb, if your computer was manufactured on or after 1st January, 2018, You will likely be able to play Viva New Vegas and Viva New Vegas Extended at 1080p, 60FPS. This is due to a confluence of factors, namely:
- The game was released over a decade ago, and was not a particularly demanding title, even at the time.
- The game scales quite well with modern hardware and is much more intensive on the CPU rather than the GPU
- This modding guide requires you to install mods that improve performance over the stock game experience.
